Stage 1 remapping
Stage 1 remapping
in the Midlands.
Bespoke Stage 1 ECU remapping, calibrated around your existing hardware, the way you drive and what you want to change.

What is Stage 1 remapping?
Your engine control unit (ECU) manages engine operation using software and calibration data. A Stage 1 remap adjusts appropriate calibration settings for a suitable vehicle, typically using its existing hardware. At Midlands Tuning, the starting point is the individual car: engine, ECU software identification, gearbox, configuration and your priorities.
Who might it suit?
Everyday drivers and enthusiasts looking for more accessible performance without committing to an extensive hardware project. The focus can be stronger mid-range response, more progressive delivery or improved drivability. Suitability is assessed before software work is agreed.
What could change?
Depending on the engine and its condition, calibration may improve usable torque, acceleration and throttle response. There is no universal horsepower figure: the same model badge can cover different engines, software and drivetrains. An exact gains estimate needs a vehicle-specific assessment.
Condition comes first
Existing faults, service condition, turbocharger and fuelling health, cooling, clutch and gearbox capacity can all affect the decision. A remap cannot repair worn or damaged components. Tell us about warning lights, unusual noises, previous tuning or known issues before requesting work.
Is hardware work required?
Stage 1 generally starts with the existing hardware, but that does not mean every standard car is suitable. Required repairs or preparatory work must be completed separately. We provide software services only and agree any hardware requirements and the order of work before proceeding.
Price and information for a quote
Stage 1 bespoke remapping starts from £150. Send the make, model, year, engine, gearbox, existing modifications and your main goal. ECU identification or a previous tuning file may be needed after initial review. The final quote confirms compatibility, scope and requirements.
Before proceeding, discuss the modification with your insurer and check your manufacturer’s warranty terms. Remapping is not universally risk-free or warranty-safe.
