Potential is not a promise
An economy-focused calibration may change usable torque and response on a suitable vehicle. Whether this reduces the fuel you use is a separate question. There is no fixed MPG improvement or percentage saving that can honestly be applied to every car and every driver.
Your right foot still matters
Hard acceleration, high speed and unnecessary braking affect consumption. Additional torque can change how the vehicle feels, but regularly using extra performance can increase fuel use. Smooth anticipation, appropriate gears and sensible speeds remain relevant before and after any software change.
The journey changes the result
Cold starts, short trips, traffic, hills, temperature and carried load affect the conditions in which an engine operates. A vehicle used for repeated short urban journeys cannot be compared fairly with one used for steady longer trips. Tell us about your real use pattern rather than choosing a target based on another driver’s result.
Start with condition and a baseline
Check servicing, tyre pressures and known mechanical issues. Record distance travelled and fuel added across several comparable fill-ups, using a consistent method and allowing for filling variation. A single dashboard reading is insufficient to establish a reliable saving. Compare representative journeys, similar load and similar driving style.
Ask for a realistic assessment
Send your vehicle details, engine, gearbox, modifications, typical routes, load and current consumption. We can then consider whether economy-focused software is appropriate. Ordinary economy remapping is distinct from restricted-use emissions deactivation; disabling emissions equipment is not presented as a route to guaranteed savings. Discuss the proposed modification with your insurer and check warranty terms before proceeding.
Make it specific to your car.
